BIO - Tommy Hatwell

Born in Devon England, I have traveled, lived, worked and photographed all over the globe. My camera has been intrinsic to this journey as I explore the environment around me.

People feature heavily in my work, I love to share time, knowledge and energy with passionate people, either on assignment for both local and international organization or personal projects, always aiming to honestly and carefully capture images which share a story of authenticity, trust, and relationship.

In 2017 my image 'NightSchool' was selected and exhibited for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London. I also reached the final selections for two of the Association of photographers exhibitions in London during the same year.

In 2018 I continued to share my passion with others through inspiring and insightful workshops and visiting clubs, colleges, and universities speaking about my work and my photographic journey.

2018 saw me produce my first solo exhibition, held throughout December exhibiting, 17 of my favourite portraits and stories from my ongoing series Faces from Far-off Places, this was accompanied by my talk 'Around the world and back again" attended by 130 people.

2019 starts with my annual adventure to Uganda, where I return each year for personal and professional projects, including capturing the 4 day Nile River festival. This is also a time to reflect on the previous year and set goals for the coming 12 months.

At home I work commercially in the south-west of England alongside clients to bring their projects, brand, ideas, and events to life, creating a visual presence through high-quality photography, video and social media content for their Business, Leisure or Pleasure.
